MSX

In the 1980s, home computer systems were just getting off the ground, While IBM PC and Commodore dominated the US, Sinclair and Amstrad CPC were big in Europe, and in Japan NEC and a system called MSX were the big players. MSX was an important home computer system at the time, which interestingly Microsoft helped develop, through suggestion and providing software, not directly however. What makes MSX important is that famous video game series started on the MSX, including Aleste, Bomberman, Parodius, and superior versions of Metal Gear 1 and 2.

People still do buy and sell old MSX machines, but the easiest way to enjoy MSX is through open-source emulators. OpenMSX can work on any machine, and BlueMSX is easier to use than OpenMSX but is made for Windows.

The title should be 1988, not 1998.
