Pong

An original Pong arcade cabinet

Even though Computer Space, a Spacewar! clone was made first by Nolan Bushnell, founder of Atari, Pong was the breakout hit that made video arcade games profitable and started video arcade games as we know them. The easiest way to play Pong is to play it on Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration or Atari Vault. If you want a more original Atari experience, playing on an Atari system with a real paddle, I recommend playing Video Olympics on a Retron 77 with an Hyperkin Ranger on your HDTV. This set up is a lot easier than a purist setup that needs a cathode ray tube TV and deal with the strange connections old console systems like Atari 2600 had with TVs. Pong is listed in the book 1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die, and Video Olympics, a Pong game, is listed in The 100 Greatest Console Video Games 1977-1987. If you buy the Atari collections, I recommend buying on Steam. If you buy Retron 77 and Hyperkin Ranger, I recommend buying from Stone Age Gamer
