An interesting text adventure game for the computer, it came with a copy of the book, The Hobbit, as inspiration for playing the game. If you want The Hobbit book to go along with the game, as originally intended, I recommend The Annotated Hobbit, which you can sometimes get from your local library. Characters in the game have a mind of their own, and you can make your own way in The Hobbit universe, trying to recreate the book. Finding the original software and getting it to work is hugely difficult, but fortunately you can play the game on Internet Archive below, and the manual is available too!
