For playing I recommend RetroArch, playing for RetroAchievements, playing on a Retron 77 on your HDTV, or third-best, but easiest option is to buy game compilations like Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration along with Activision Anthology. This would only allow you to play Atari and Activision games, but that’s mostly what people want to play. For remaining games you’d have to play on hardware that take cartridges or an emulator. The best emulator is Stella. For PCs I highly recommend Hyperkin Trooper 2. It feels amazing playing Space Invaders with a very stable and comfortable USB adapter for emulator, rather than use the wrong joystick for Atari 2600 emulation
